Kashi Jangamwadi Math has origin in Kashi Vishwaradhya Jnana SimhasanaMahapeethaandhistory fromKritayuga throughKaliyuga. In the Kritayuga (Satyayuga), Shree Jagadguru Panchakshara Shivacharya Bhagavatpadji was the Peethadhipati(Chief) of this Peetha. In the Tretayuga, Shree Jagadguru Panchavaktra Shivacharya Bhagavatpadji was the Head of this Peetha.

In the Dwaparyuga, Shree Jagadguru Vishwakarna Shivacharya Bhagavatpadji led this Peetha. He preached the Veerashaiva philosophy to the famous Maharshi Durvasa. That sermon is still available in the name of PanchavarnaMahasutra. In the beginning of the Kaliyuga,Shree Jagadguru Vishwaradhya Shivacharya Bhagavatpadji manifested from the KashiVishweshwarJyotirlinga on the auspicious day of Mahashivaratri and establishedJnana Simhasana Peetha, also known as Jangamwadi Math, for the welfare of the society and for the propagation of Veerashaiva Siddhanta.

The Jnana Simhasana Peetha established by His Holiness Jagadguru Vishwaradhya is still in existence in the Kailash Mandap of Jangamwadi Math. The Acharyas of this Peetha used to sit on the Jnana Simhasana in the ancient times for delivering religious discourses of Veerashaiva philosophy and religion to the saints (Rishis) and common people. The tradition of sitting on this Jnana Peetha for getting Sanskara and Mantropadesha(initiation) by the successive Jagadgurus on their coronation is still in practice.

The Jangamwadi Math is very close to the Lord Vishwanath temple and the Ganges. It’s within 200 meters distance from Godowlia crossing.

Kashi is well connected by air and railway routes. The distance from Varanasi airport to Jangamwadi Math is around 25 KM. From Varanasi Junction railway station, it is about 3 KM.
